The agenda of the meeting was to follow up on myRAig’s proposal at RobotWorld 2012 to establish a MoU between MySET and KAR (Korean Association ofRobot Industry). Present at the meeting are, Mr Park Jung Sung from the Embassy ofSouth Korea, Mr Jung Yoonsuh from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency(KOTRA), Prof Dr. Ishkandar Baharin and Mr. Eugene Ng from myRAig.The conclusions from the discussions are:MySET NEWSLETTER | 16th ISSUE | JAN - MAR 2013• The South Korean Embassy will facilitate the establishment of MoU between MySETand KAR.• The embassy and KOTRA will look into joint collaboration to hold an exhibition innext year’s FIRA which is co-organized by myRAig and Politeknik Malaysia• The embassy will assist in identifying experts and professionals from South Korea toshare their knowledge in Robotics Industry in Malaysia• Mr Park Jung Sung, who was one of the key person in South Korea in the establishmentof the South Korean Robotics Masterplan, agreed to share his experience with myRAigto propose to the Malaysian government on a Malaysian Robotics Masterplan.One Day Workshopon EAC Assessment1 December 2012 | Seri Kembangan, SelangorIn conjunction with WRICET2012, MySET organised a Pre-Conventionworkshop which was the One Day Workshop on EAC Assessment. Thisworkshop has been a tradition since the World Engineering Congress 2010 andaims to discuss issues related to the direct assessment of course and programmeoutcomes, ensuring seemless linking between the two, as well as defining theset of programme objectives. The workshop attracted around 90 participantsfrom all over Malaysia which included participants from both local and privateuniversities. The speakers for the workshop were Prof. Megat Johari Megat MohdNoor, former Director of the Engineering Accreditation Department (EAD) andIr. Azlan Abdul Aziz, the current Director of EAD. The workshop highlights wasthe discussion on the new manual for 2012 which was released earlier this year.
|5Two-Days TrainingWorkshop on “Biogasfor Future”1-2 December 2012 | Seri Kembangan, SelangorThe Two-Days Training Workshop on “Biogas for Future“ was a twoday workshop jointly organised by MySET and the Deparment ofChemical & Environmental Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia.The workshop focused on Biogas as the dominant renewableenergy source which production is likely to increase greatly in thecoming decades. The speaker for the first day was Prof. Dr. BerndLinke from Leibniz Research Institute for Agricultural Engineering(ATB), Postdam-Bornim, Germany. There were two local speakersintroduced for the second which were Mr. Zainuri Busu from theBiomas Department, FELDA Palm Industries Sdn. Bhd., Malaysiaand Prof. Dr. Azni Idris from the Department of Chemical &Environmental Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia.The workshop was attended by 25 participants and at the end of theworkshop, there was a discussion session between participants andworkshop speakers. As a summary, participants were educated on theneed of alternative energy from bio-based materials, heighten theirawareness on related global energy issues and had the opportunity toexchange knowledge & experiance of biogas application.2 nd EngineeringEducation Summit2 December 2012 | Seri Kembangan, SelangorMySET NEWSLETTER | 16th ISSUE | JAN - MAR 2013MySET also organised a pre-Convention workshop which wascalled The 2nd Engineering Education Summit. The Summit was thesecond of its series since WEC2012 and it was attended by around 30participants. The Summit was an effective platform for communicationand collaboration among the stakeholders in engineering educationto share their views and opinions in building and nurturing qualityattributes. The Summit began with the Welcoming & KeynoteAddress entitled “Washington Accord - Moving On” by Prof. Ir.Megat Johari Megat Mohd Noor from Malaysia-Japan InternationalInstitute of Technology, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. The nextkeynote speaker was Ir. Azlan Abdul Aziz from the EngineeringAccreditation Department (EAD), Board of Engineers Malaysia witha keynote Address entitled “Latest Requirements in Outcome BasedEducation”. After the lunch break, Prof. Dr. Nor Kamariah BintiNoordin from Universiti Putra Malaysia gave her keynote addressentitled “Project Oriented Problem Based Learning: A Student
