CRIME IN PEMBURYALTHOUGH ONLY a small increase overall from 46 in the previous quarter to 47 forthe quarter Jan-March 2004, the figures for crime reported to the police aredisappointing in as much that the highest figure – 13 – is for criminal damage, most ofwhich I suspect is committed by people who live amongst us. Most of the damage takesplace on Friday or Saturday nights, at a time when most people are in bed.Unfortunately, in the last week of March, a spate of burglaries in one day stunned severalhouseholds into realising how vulnerable we can be and I do ask that if you trust yourneighbours, every now and then bring them into your confidence and let them know yourmovements.In the summer the Parish Council will be spending some of your money on new children’splay equipment and we ask for your support in helping to protect these items from the antisocialwho continually strive to wreck anything that is good.Full marks to Pembury Baptist Church for providing a youth centre and I say to all theyoungsters, support it, it’s good and it’s for you.
