Grayshott Cricket Club - Selection Policy
This is to create a clear understanding of the reasons behind
player selection and some guidelines for players to be aware
of.
Who is Eligible?
� Only members of Grayshott Cricket Club will be eligible
for selection.
� Only players who have paid their annual subscription by
31 st May of the current season are eligible for selection.
� Players with 2 or more weeks arrears of match fees’ will
not be eligible for selection until the monies are paid.
Who selects the teams?
� Selection will take place on Saturday evening 1 week
prior to the following weeks’ fixtures.
� Selection will be made by the selection committee,
consisting of 1 st XI Captain, 2 nd XI Captain, 3 rd XI Captain,
4 th XI Captain and Club Captain. Their Vice-Captains can
deputise in their place if required. 3 or more of the
committee need to be in place to make selection
possible.
� 1 st choice of players going to the higher team.
� Selection will be based on availability, form, ability,
reliability and attitude.
� When a player is picked in a different team from usual,
they will be played as close to their normal positions as
possible.
� Youth team players will be selected upon
recommendation from their youth coach.
� Promoted and demoted players will be informed
personally, with reasons, by the senior selecting captain.
� Team captains will confirm team selection to all players
by Monday evening
