Fun in the sunachievement of the climb (probablybest to keep a steady hand on – justin case!).Buckets - can be all measure of fun.Fill them with large decorative stones(or whatever you have to hand) andlet them dig, scatter and count thestones back into the bucket. Or goclassic with some kiddy-friendly toysand in a bucket, add a spade or acup for scooping and watch them go.Or of course there’s water fun to behad (just remember to always keep aclose eye on kids of any age aroundwater).Tag/chasies/it - another classicwhere the person declared ‘it’ hasto catch someone else to tag them(gently!) so the tagged one becomes‘it’. For a twist, you can dispense withthe tagging and make up challengessuch as ‘last one to the tree is “it”’ Or,to give the little ones a chance of notalways being ‘it’, make somethingspecific to the older kids, like callingout what their name is, or the colourof their clothes.Daisy chains - one I rememberfondly from my childhood! Pickdaisies (or other wild growingflowers), make a slit in the stem andthread the stem of another flowerthrough until you make a chain. Onlya few flowers? How about just a ringor a hair ornament.Search - for four leaf clovers in thegrass; for ladybirds or lizards; orwhatever takes your fancy!Newsletter <strong>Summer</strong> 23
