goalball - modifiedOrganising the game■■Scoring■■Three points are awarded for a goal.■■One point is awarded for a block.■■The winning team can be the first to reach a numberof points (e.g. 50 points); first to 11 in best of threesets or that scores the most points within a timelimit (e.g. 5 minutes).■■The opposition receive the ball if players do not keepto these rules.■■Players can move anywhere within their ‘team zone’to throw the ball.■■Underarm throwing/rolling only no kicking■■When the ball is thrown, it must land before the endof their ‘team zone’.■■No player is to have two consecutive shots.■■To block a shot, a defending player must have atleast one body part (e.g. hand or foot) touchingtheir mat.■■Players remove eyeshadesThink inclusivelySpace■■Adjust the space to challenge or support players;for example, reducing the space gives player lessreaction time.Task■■Score-based: increase/decrease the amount of pointsa team requires to win.■■Time-based: increase/decrease the duration of thegame.Equipment■■Change the size of the ball.People■■Increase/decrease the number of players on a team(between one to five players). Teams then try to hit all thecones in the sequence and when successfulmove onto another sequence.Think tacticsFocus on accuracy rather than powerand try to get the ball travelling along thefloor at an appropriate speed.Getting started■■Teams take turns to set up target sequences of five cones.■■The targets are set on half a badminton court length.■■Both teams then attempt to hit the cones in the order set.■■Teams rotate the target shooter.■■Only one ball can be rolled at a time and the shooter must collectthe ball.■■If the wrong target is hit, the next roller tries to hit the correct target.■■One member of each team keeps time for the opposing team.■■Each team’s times are recorded.■■Teams alternate setting the target sequence which must be differentevery time.■■Times are accumulated.■■Teams can play as many rounds based on the time.Rules■■Shot must be taken from the same point each time.■■Shots must travel along the floor.■■Teams may only move onto the next cone once they have hit it.■■Cones must be hit in order (according to their distance from thethrower).■■Only one cone can be hit at a time.■■Once a team hits all cones, they must sit down in a line to indicatethey have completed the challenge.
