How to help an unconscious choking adultIf rescue breaths do not go in or the conscious choking victim becomes unconscious:1. After checking an ill or injured person2. Tilt head farther back and try 2 rescue breaths again3. If chest does not rise, give 30 chest compressions4. Look for an object in their mouth5. Remove if one is seen6. Try 2 rescue breaths – repeatCPR – AdultYou find no signs of life:After checking an ill of injured person:1. Give cycles of 30 chest compressions and 2 rescue breaths2. Continue CPR until:3. The scene becomes unsafe4. You find a sign of life5. AED is ready to use6. You are too exhausted to continue7. Another trained responder arrives and takes overAED – AdultNo signs of life (over age of 8 or more than 55 ponds)After checking an ill or injured person:1. Turn on the AED2. Wipe chest dry3. Attach pads to bare, dry chest4. Plug in connector5. Make sure no one is touching the patient6. Push analyze button if necessary – let the AED work7. If shock advised – say “everyone stand clear”8. Push shock button if stated9. After shock – give 5 cycles or about 2 minutes of CPR – let AED reanalyze10. If no shock advised – give 5 cycles or about 2 minutes of CPR
