john pomp, founder and principal of john pomp studios, is froma small steel town in western pennsylvania. his father is acarpenter and for many years worked in the steel mills in thearea. being surrounded by fine craftsmanship, he found his way toglassblowing through his art teacher/sculptor and good friendwhom he studied with for many years. after being schooled in thevenetian art of glassblowing by maestros from murano italy, pompspent most of his early career in nyc where he gained most of hisnotoriety with his blown glass and lighting. a move to the city ofbrotherly love/invention has spawned a new furniture, lighting,and accessories collection created primarily from steel, thatwas inspired by his personal history and ties to his home town.each piece of furniture and lighting is meticulously crafted byhand in our multi-disciplinary studios in philadelphia. john pompstudios work exemplifies the purity of natural materials whileembracing their inherent historical and elemental qualities,yielding a simple, classic modern aesthetic.
