When <strong>the</strong> standarddeviation of point normals in a cell is larger than a threshold, <strong>the</strong> cell is subdivided.When <strong>the</strong> size of 3D cells becomes very small, <strong>the</strong>se cells correspond to <strong>the</strong> edges.Removal of <strong>the</strong>se cells separates <strong>the</strong> point cloud into several regions by leaving gapsbetween different regions.Huang and Menq [42] segmented a point cloud in three steps.
