Steel pipeline valves are covered by API 6D for which there is no directBritish equivalent. However BS 5353 is a more stringent specification, so that valves complying with it willalso meet API 6D. API 6D permits iron plugs: BS 5353 permits iron plugs only by agreement betweenpurchaser and supplier. Therefore, it is British practice to manufacture the valves to BS 5353 except for thesubstitution of iron plugs. Double Isolation Plug Valves meet the requirements of BS 5353, API 599, API 6Dand ANSI B16.34.
