Optimizing Tires to the Working Environment Spicer ®CTIS allowsfarmers to adjust tire pressure to suit prevailing conditions when traveling eitheron- or off-road. This allows for an optimized tire pressure setting depending on terraintype, and provides enhanced tire preservation, better tractive performance, reducedsoil compaction, improved fuel consumption, and reduced overall operating cost.Additionally, the system reduces downtimes associated with tire malfunctions, suchas minor punctures, leaks, or immobilization in muddy terrain.RoadDuring on-road operation, the system inflates the tiresto 1.6 - 1.8 bar and a 10 -13 percent tread deflection tominimize tire contact with the road surface, improving fuelefficiency up to 3.3 percent and greatly reducing tire wear.FieldWhen the vehicle travels off-road, the system deflates thetires to 0.6 - 0.8 bar and a 20 - 22 percent tread deflectionto increase tire contact with the soil, improving tractionand reducing soil compaction. When the vehicle returnsto the road, the system inflates the tires from 0.6 - 0.8 barto 1.6 - 1.8 bar and returns the tread deflection to 10 -13percent, increasing overall tire life by up to 10 percent.During tractor idle status, the systemperiodically checks tire pressures.
