In1998 a license agreementwas entered into by and betweenEBRPD and AlamedaCounty for the purpose ofconstructing a trail withinthis right-of-way.When completed, thetrail will offer a continuousmulti-use pathway extendingfrom Martinez on theCarquinez Strait to the SanJoaquin County line nearthe Altamont Pass. Thistrail is the second EBRPDproject funded by a $10MU.S. Department of TransportationTIGER II grant,hard-won with the supportof East Bay congressionalrepresentatives.
