Observations <strong>of</strong> NIOH• The study showed that symptoms like cough, breathlessness whilewalk<strong>in</strong>g, haemoptysis have been more <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>dustrial area. Asthma,Tuberculosis and chronic bronchitis was also higher <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>dustrial area.Wheez<strong>in</strong>g has been significantly higher <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>dustrial area.• The medical data from the different hospitals from <strong>Ahmedabad</strong> were alsocollected; however correct database regard<strong>in</strong>g disease pattern w.r.to airpollution was not available. Amongst air borne disease pattern, max. cases<strong>of</strong> T.B. were reported <strong>in</strong> 1997 to 2003. While cases <strong>of</strong> Pneumonia,Diphtheria and Measles were comparatively less reported. High RSPMlevels probably enhance chest disease pattern.
