Nine of the best young actors in Europehave been named as SHOOTING STARS of 2<strong>00</strong>8by European Film Promotion.Taking on the role of a hardenedyoung outlaw in the romanticthriller Nosedive, Zsolt Nagy wasdescribed by the jury as “a latterday Raging Bull?”.Zsolt NAGYwas born in 1976 in Kisvárda, North-Eastern Hungary. Since graduating as anactor from the Hungarian Academy ofDrama and Film in 2<strong>00</strong>0, he has performedin a great number of theatre productionsand 14 films. Zsolt Nagy hasably proven his abilities, both on stageand on the wide screen. Népszabadság,Hungary’s biggest daily honoured his performanceswith Emerging Actor Awardalready in 2<strong>00</strong>0.Since 2<strong>00</strong>0, Zsolt Nagy has been a memberof Chalk Circle Theatre (KrétakörSzínház) led by Árpád Schilling, wellknown for his creative staging of contemporaryplays. Theatre plays he has actedin include Tartuffe, Woyzeck and Liliomby Ferenc Molnár for which performancehe was awarded Best Young Actor atHungarian Theatres’ Meeting (POSZT) inPécs in 2<strong>00</strong>1. He toured the world withChalk Circle Theatre’s productions, heOvernightColorado KidEastern Sugar, with Gabriella Hámoriwas honoured with Rijeka InternationalTheatre Meeting’s Best Actor Prize in2<strong>00</strong>3.Zsolt Nagy appeared on the moviescreen in shorts and in a part in Jadviga’sPillow directed by Krisztina Deák in 2<strong>00</strong>0.He gathered international experience witha lead in La vie nouvelle by PhilippeGrandrieux two years later. The role inNimród Antal’s highly praised Kontrollearned him Hungarian Film Critics’ BestSupporting Actor Prize in 2<strong>00</strong>4.In Hungary he created recently quite asensation with his leading role in Nosedive,a first feature directed by ErikNovák.The leading role in Krisztina Goda’snew feature, Chameleon, to be shot inMay promises to bring him furtheracclaim.
