AWOC was a largely Filip<strong>in</strong>o-American union led by Larry Itliong, while<br />
<strong>the</strong> NFWA was led by César Chávez. The two unions cooperated on <strong>the</strong><br />
Delano strike <strong>in</strong> 1965 and merged shortly <strong>the</strong>reafter to form <strong>the</strong> UFW.
