Conditions of <strong>Employment</strong>1. <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Employment</strong> at <strong>Regis</strong> <strong>College</strong> carries all of the responsibilities and commitments as any other employmentsituation. <strong>Student</strong>s are expected to be dependable, considerate of their employers, and perform their duties to thebest of their ability. <strong>Student</strong>s must recognize the need for confidentiality in their employment situations.2. <strong>Student</strong>s should develop an employment record of dependability by working the scheduled hours prearranged bythem with their supervisors. <strong>Student</strong>s must give sufficient notice if they will be unable to work due to illness orother obligations. Work hours should be scheduled so they do not interfere with one’s academic responsibilities.3. <strong>Student</strong>s may not work more than 20 hours per week while classes are in session. During non-academic weeks,students may not work more than 35 hours per week for department’s open 35 hours. If a department is open morethan 35 hours, students may work a maximum of 40 hours per week during non-academic weeks.4. <strong>Student</strong>s will be paid only for actual hours worked. <strong>Student</strong>s will not receive payment for holidays, meal times,sick days, travel time, or vacations. All students must take a ½ hour unpaid break after each 5 hours worked.Overtime work is not permitted; therefore unauthorized overtime hours will not be compensated.5. All student employees, both Federal Work-Study and Institutional <strong>Employment</strong>, have work limits. The awardamounts have been distributed in an equitable manner. There is a limited amount of work funds; thus students musttrack their earnings to avoid exceeding their work limit. Their employer may not pay hours worked beyond one’saward amount. In cases of extenuating circumstances, some exceptions may be made to increase one’s workaward. Please note that funding is extremely limited. These special situations must be discussed with the FinancialAid Office.6. <strong>Student</strong>s must complete a bi-weekly timecard, recording their hours on a daily basis. The student is responsible tosubmit a complete and accurate timecard to her supervisor and to obtain her supervisor’s signature on her timecardin a timely manner. Timecards are due in the Office of Financial Aid by the designated date and time listed on thetimecard schedule distributed at the beginning of each employment term. Timecards must be submitted by thesupervisor. Timecards submitted late or incomplete will not be processed until the following pay period.Deliberate falsification of timecards or other employment records is a federal offense and punishable by law.7. <strong>Student</strong>s who are unhappy with their work experience or conditions, or who wish to leave their positions, shoulddiscuss the circumstances with their supervisor first. If a student and her supervisor are unable to resolve the issue,consult the Office of Financial Aid. A student who voluntarily wishes to terminate her employment must give twoweeks notice to her department. <strong>Student</strong>s who no longer qualify for Federal Work-Study funds under federalguidelines may be terminated by their department if Federal Work Study funds are a prerequisite for the position.An employee may be suspended immediately from her position in case of theft of equipment or personal property,insubordination, or any other acts of gross misconduct deemed detrimental to the operation of the department.Another position cannot be guaranteed in the case of termination.
