Risk Management and Emergency Procedures - UNC Campus Rec

Emergency Procedures:
If participant is unconscious or unstable call 911, then call Fetzer Athletic Training Room. If participant is
conscious and stable, call Fetzer Athletic Training Room. When reporting an injury to 911 or Fetzer AT room,
remain calm and follow these guidelines.
1. Identify yourself and inform them if you are First Aid\CPR Certified.
2. Location – be specific!
3. Type of injury – (i.e. bleeding, stopped breathing, possible broken bone, etc.)
a. Reminder: Diagnosis is not your responsibility or profession
4. If injury requires transportation contact Campus Police.
5. If on campus or in Orange County and calling 911, request Orange County EMS
6. Remember to report injuries to the Sport Clubs Office within 24 hours
Emergency Equipment:
Emergency supplies including a trauma kit, splint kit, spine board, and AED are maintained in Fetzer Athletic
Training Room. (Phone # (919)962-2067) Emergency equipment will be present on site when arrangements have
been made for Certified Athletic Training coverage.
Directions To Give In An Emergency:
� Hooker Fields: Located on South Road in between Carmichael Auditorium and the School of Government
parking deck. Access to Field located adjacent to the School of Government Parking Deck. A club
member will meet emergency personnel on South Road next to the School of Government parking deck.
� Woollen Gym: Located on South Road. A club member will meet emergency personnel at the front steps
of Woollen Gym, on South Road. (Facing Winston Residence Hall)
� Fetzer Gym: South Road to the Fetzer Gymnasium entrance; go directly to door at the front of the building
near the intersection of South Road and Raleigh Road. Ambulance may park on sidewalk entrance at the
front of Fetzer Gymnasium. A club member will meet emergency personnel at the front of Fetzer Gym on
South Road. (Facing the Student Union)
� Koury Natatorium: Located next to Dean Smith Center on Skipper Bowles Drive. Drive to back right
corner of the parking lot behind the Dean E. Smith Center. A club member will meet emergency personnel
in the parking lot and direct them down the tunnel.
� Henry Stadium: Located on Ridge Road. A club member will meet emergency personnel at the entrance to
Henry Stadium (across from Boshamer Stadium). Ambulance may access field by drive between Law
School and Astroturf.
� Ehringhaus Fields: Located on Ridge Road. A club member will meet emergency personnel at the
entrance to Ehringhaus Fields (across from Ram’s Head Market/Parking Deck).
