We can also help when you aredealing with authorities overseas.reuniteThis is a charity which provides advice, information <strong>and</strong>support to parents, family members <strong>and</strong> guardians whosechildren have been abducted, or might be abducted <strong>and</strong> takenoverseas. They can give you a list of <strong>UK</strong> lawyers wi<strong>the</strong>xperience in family law.The policeTell your local police station if you think your child has beenabducted or is about to be. Depending on <strong>the</strong> circumstances,<strong>the</strong> person who abducts <strong>the</strong> child may have committed a crimein <strong>the</strong> <strong>UK</strong>. If <strong>the</strong>re is a real <strong>and</strong> imminent threat of your childbeing abducted <strong>and</strong> taken overseas, <strong>the</strong> police can contact <strong>the</strong>National Ports Office <strong>and</strong> ask <strong>the</strong>m to alert all <strong>UK</strong> points ofdeparture to try to prevent <strong>the</strong> abduction. This is called a ‘PortAlert’. If your child has been taken overseas but you do notknow exactly where, <strong>the</strong> <strong>UK</strong> police will be able to contactInterpol.
