5ANNIVERSARYmuseums, <strong>Pointe</strong>-<strong>à</strong>-<strong>Callière</strong> will be organizing an evententitled Montréal, City of History, bringing together andpromoting the activities and events at some thirty historymuseums, institutions and organizations whose mandatesare associated with this theme. The goal, of course, is tospark people’s interest in Montréal history, but also toposition Montréal as a city of history, giving it a new“trademark” to complement its reputation as a city offestivals and a city of design.THANKS TWENTY TIMES!<strong>Pointe</strong>-<strong>à</strong>-<strong>Callière</strong> will also take advantage of thecelebrations this year to acknowledge 20 years offriendship with the Friends of <strong>Pointe</strong>-<strong>à</strong>-<strong>Callière</strong> andthe Museum’s neighbours, and to thank them for theirfaithful support. The Museum also wants to acknowledgethe support of the business community, with which it hasforged strong ties since the <strong>Pointe</strong>-<strong>à</strong>-<strong>Callière</strong> Foundationwas created in 1993. The Foundation organizes twoannual benefit events, the Montréal Builders Clubevening and the Major Donors evening. These fundraisingevents make a tremendous difference for the Museum’sdevelopment and help it pursue its activities.A SPECIAL INVITATION FOR COMPANIESAND COLLECTORSLastly, to mark its 20th anniversary, <strong>Pointe</strong>-<strong>à</strong>-<strong>Callière</strong> isoffering a new temporary display space for collectorsinterested in presenting their treasures to the public.This will give them a chance to share their passion anddisplay their collections for the first time. Companiesmay also wish to present exhibitions on their historyfor the general public, or to celebrate a significantmilestone. Everyone is invited to vote on theMuseum’s website and Facebook page and, at the endof the year, <strong>Pointe</strong>-<strong>à</strong>-<strong>Callière</strong> will tot up the votesand announce the winners as selected by Montrealersand visitors. There will be prizes for participants.Tell us about your favourites!OPEN HOUSE TO MARK THE 10TH ANNIVERSARYOF THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL FIELD SCHOOLIn 2012, <strong>Pointe</strong>-<strong>à</strong>-<strong>Callière</strong>'s Archaeological Field School,in partnership with the Université de Montréal, will becelebrating its 10th year. Every year since it was founded,students have had the unique opportunity to conductarchaeological digs in the very soil trod by Maisonneuve,Jeanne Mance and the first Montrealers. The result?Traces of Fort Ville-Marie and <strong>Callière</strong>'s residence,important discoveries that have advanced ourknowledge of Montréal history. An open house willbe held on May 27, 2012.THE MUSEUM IS SEEKING DONATIONSAs part of its 20th anniversary, the Museum is lookingto expand its collections on Montréal history, andseeking items from collectors and potential donors.Any items offered will be examined by the AcquisitionsCommittee, which will determine whether they areappropriate for our collections. The Museum Foundationwill issue an income tax receipt for any item that isaccepted.
