MaximisedSpeedEPSON’s long-standing commitment to colour printing solutions has resulted in technologies that address themany questions that arise when people consider the value of colour laser printers.Question: How is it that the AcuLaser C4000 can print up to four times faster than traditional colourlaser printers?Answer: The AcuLaser C4000 utilises AcuLaser Quadra Beam Technology which simultaneously usesfour laser beams, one for each colour (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black). Of course, the actual speedof a printer’s mechanical components is only one part of the speed equation. With the C4000, speed isenhanced by a powerful 400MHz RISC processor coupled with a unique EPSON AcuLaser ColourASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit), ensuring even complex print jobs are processedquickly to achieve maximum throughput. Speed is also given a major boost by virtue of EPSONAcuLaser Adaptive Data Compression technologies. These technologies improve total throughput timeby the use of intelligent algorithm tables, which apply different compression techniques to pageelements. As a result, even though speed is maximised, full data integrity is maintained.Question: Speed is all well and good, but what about quality?Answer: There are actually a number of issues in this. The first deals with the 4-2-1 Tandem printengine, which is designed to ensure accurate print registration – a critical issue when applying all fourcolours simultaneously. Then, there’s the EPSON AcuLaser MicroPolymer Toner. This is a newpolymer-based toner formulation which gives uniform toner coverage by using smaller toner particles, improving stability and in turn helping to minimise toner waste.Question: But what about documents that feature text, graphics and images all on a single page?Answer: EPSON addressed this same question with its award-winning inkjet printers and thendeveloped the EPSON Multiple-Screen Printing Technology for the AcuLaser family. This technologyactually distinguishes between photos, text and line drawings on each page. It then automaticallyalters the line screening and colour correction for each area. For example photographic images areprinted at a suitable line screening frequency for good gradations and colour correction for photorealistic output, while text areas are printed with high line screening for vivid output.
