MaximisedSpeed<strong>EPSON</strong>’s long-standing commitment to colour printing solutions has resulted in technologies that address themany questions that arise when people consider the value of colour laser printers.Question: How is it that the <strong>AcuLaser</strong> <strong>C4000</strong> can print up to four times faster than traditional colourlaser printers?Answer: The <strong>AcuLaser</strong> <strong>C4000</strong> utilises <strong>AcuLaser</strong> Quadra Beam Technology which simultaneously usesfour laser beams, one for each colour (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black). Of course, the actual speedof a printer’s mechanical components is only one part of the speed equation. With the <strong>C4000</strong>, speed isenhanced by a powerful 400MHz RISC processor coupled with a unique <strong>EPSON</strong> <strong>AcuLaser</strong> ColourASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit), ensuring even complex print jobs are processedquickly to achieve maximum throughput. Speed is also given a major boost by virtue of <strong>EPSON</strong><strong>AcuLaser</strong> Adaptive Data Compression technologies. These technologies improve total throughput timeby the use of intelligent algorithm tables, which apply different compression techniques to pageelements. As a result, even though speed is maximised, full data integrity is maintained.Question: Speed is all well and good, but what about quality?Answer: There are actually a number of issues in this. The first deals with the 4-2-1 Tandem printengine, which is designed to ensure accurate print registration – a critical issue when applying all fourcolours simultaneously. Then, there’s the <strong>EPSON</strong> <strong>AcuLaser</strong> MicroPolymer Toner. This is a newpolymer-based toner formulation which gives uniform toner coverage by using smaller toner particles,improving stability and in turn helping to minimise toner waste.Question: But what about documents that feature text, graphics and images all on a single page?Answer: <strong>EPSON</strong> addressed this same question with its award-winning inkjet printers and thendeveloped the <strong>EPSON</strong> Multiple-Screen Printing Technology for the <strong>AcuLaser</strong> family. This technologyactually distinguishes between photos, text and line drawings on each page. It then automaticallyalters the line screening and colour correction for each area. For example photographic images areprinted at a suitable line screening frequency for good gradations and colour correction for photorealistic output, while text areas are printed with high line screening for vivid output.
