The name says it all. Tall, strong 42-inch stems<br />

are topped by single-<strong>for</strong>m flowers featuring<br />

bold violet-pink guard petals surrounding<br />

crimson stigmas <strong>and</strong> yellow stamens. The<br />

bloom contrasts well with the plant’s large,<br />

deep green leaves. This robust, mid-season<br />

hybrid will be a st<strong>and</strong>out in the <strong>garden</strong>.<br />

clean, light green foliage on stems of 26 to<br />

This lovely peony features soft pink guard<br />

petals that surround a center filled with<br />

more soft pink ruffled petals encircled by<br />

yellow petaloides. This early season bloomer<br />

reached about 30 inches in height. Its fluffy<br />

blooms are delicately fragrant <strong>and</strong> per<strong>for</strong>m<br />

well in a <strong>vase</strong>. Klehm, 1963.<br />

Photographs seldom do this one justice. It’s<br />

one of the renowned quadruple hybrids that<br />

came out of the work of A.P. Saunders in<br />

1950. This single <strong>for</strong>m peony features large,<br />

simple, bright fuchsia petals accented by<br />

raspberry flares at their base. The blooms<br />

st<strong>and</strong> well on 30- to 32-inch stems.
