Overtime in Regular Season**In all age groups except 11+ there will be no overtime in regular season. Overtime will be a 3 minuteperiod as needed with one timeout per team. Stalling goes against the fun principles of the game. An“unwritten 35 second shot clock” is in effect at all times, and may be enforced by the court monitor/refereeat their sole discretion. Failure to attempt a shot (and draw iron) in 35 seconds after being advised by themonitor/referee, will result in loss of possession. In addition, neither team can stall in the last 2 minutes of agame because the clock will stop for fouls and all balls that go out of bounds. Any coach running up thescore is subject to a technical foul in any of the age groups.OffenseBackcourt violations will not be enforced in any 10 or under divisions. The general backcourtviolation rule (half court line) will be enforced for 11+ divisions.
The 10 second rule and 5 second rule will only apply in the 11+ divisions.DefenseYoungest Division (10 & under) Defensive Restrictions:<strong>•</strong> No defense in the back court<strong>•</strong> All teams on Defense must stand behind 3-point line. Only feet have to be behind theline!<strong>•</strong> Teams may <strong>play</strong> half court zone or man to man defense (defenses not to extend beyond 3-pointline)<strong>•</strong> There is no press under any circumstancesMiddle Division (11-13 ) Defensive Restrictions:<strong>•</strong> Teams can <strong>play</strong> half court man to man or zone defense<strong>•</strong> Teams can full court press under 2 minutes left of each half unless they are winning by 15points or more.Oldest Division (14-17) Defensive Restrictions:<strong>•</strong> Teams can <strong>play</strong> either zone or man to man in the full court<strong>•</strong> Teams can full court press all game unless they are winning by 15 points or more**Illegal defense will be called if a team loses possession of the ball as a result of a defensive act takingplace in a restricted area. The turnover will be legal, if it is an error initiated by the offensive team anddefense was not being applied in the restricted area of the court. (<strong>Official</strong>’s Discretion)FOULS (AND “DEBATES”)1.) <strong>Each</strong> <strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> is allowed five fouls.2.) If any <strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> is less than cordial to our referees, they maybe suspended for one game during theseason. If this occurs more than once the <strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> is subject to ejection from the league. <strong>i9</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> does notrecognize non-<strong>play</strong>ing coaches as part of the team. These coaches may be asked to leave in the event ifthey act rude, unruly, or act in a manner that is not the best interest of the league.3.) In any game the <strong>i9</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> will provide an official.4.) The team captain is the sole representative for his/her team. The captain has the right to ask the refereefor the rules before the game starts. If there is a dispute all calls are final for that game, and will bediscussed over the phone with a director. The decision is final for the purpose of that game. During anyprotest, time on the game clock continues to run, except for the last two minutes of each half.5.) Jump or held balls go to the position arrow.6.) Referee will call and record all team fouls on score-sheet. For the first six fouls, non-shooting, the ball istaken out on the sideline and passed back in by the team that is fouled, shooting fouls receive free throws.After the seventh team foul the <strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> will be rewarded a one and one situation free throw attempt. If the<strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> is fouled outside the 3pt. arc line, during a shooting foul only the <strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> will now receive 3 freethrows.7.) In the act off shooting and a foul occurs, and the <strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> fouled makes the shot, the basket counts andthe <strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> is awarded a free throw.8.) After establishing position the <strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong>s are allowed to enter the paint for a rebound after the ball hits therim by the free throw shooter. The free throw shooter is not allowed to cross free throw line until the ballhits the rim.9.) Flagrant, Intentional, or Continuous Misconduct Fouls can and will result in dismissal of the offending<strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong>. If the referee rules that that a foul was flagrant, Intentional, or continuous misconduct, and the<strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> fouled is in process of shooting and makes the shot, the basket is scored and he/she <strong>shall</strong> retainpossession. If the <strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> fouled is not shooting or misses the attempt, the <strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> will receive one free throwand retain possession. If a <strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> receives a technical foul the opposing team will shoot two free throwsand retain possession. 10.)** Two technical fouls will result in an ejection and that <strong><strong>play</strong>er</strong> will bethrown out of the following game as well. Anyone involved in punching or fighting, or foul languagetowards other participants or coaches for any reason what so ever, may be ejected from the game
