Recommended GearList-Sleeping bag (no sleepingmat required)-Toiletries (include towel)-Pillow case (can take yourown pillow also, if you cancarry it)-<strong>Ski</strong> Jacket, ski gloves,sunglasses, ski pants, thicksocks, beanie, sunscreen-Polar fleece jumper if possible(cotton does not stay warmwhen wet)-Thermals (not compulsory buthighly suggested)-Tracksuit pants & slippers towear inside lodge-Helmet (otherwise one mustbe hired)-$10 for dinner on the wayhome-Chips/soft drinks can bebrought along but must not beconsumed in the bedrooms atthe lodge.-A spare pair of shoes forsnow play is essential, thesecould be gum boots orspecialist snow boots orwalking boots or runners.The LodgeMt Baw Baw <strong>Ski</strong> Club isthe very last lodge on the roadto the ticket box in the village.It is the oldest lodge on themountain and was establishedin 1945. In its early daysmembers would have a 3 to 4hour walk up the hills fromtheir vehicles on a Fridaynight. Up until about 18 yearsago all people visiting themountain had to travel on achairlift.Bookings Continued...and any adults, siblings andVenturers who would like to come.<strong>Scout</strong>s will be given firstpriority. At this early stage we askyou to please book and pay for allfamily members. We will work outfinal numbers based on theresponse and advise youaccordingly.Priority booking for <strong>Scout</strong>s willclose 18 June. From this date,spaces will be filled as bookingscome in, regardless if a parent/family member/cub/venturer.No booking is confirmed untilboth payment and return slip arereceived.<strong>Ski</strong>? Snowboard?Toboggan?<strong>Scout</strong>s may elect to ski,snowboard or toboggan.Snowboarding is moreexpensive & the tows at Mt BawBaw are difficult to ride for aninexperienced snow boarder.Please ensure you complete thehire, lesson and lift pass form at theend of this booklet to correctlyreflect your <strong>Scout</strong>’s choices.LessonsIf a <strong>Scout</strong> has not skied/snowboarded before or has limitedexperience, they must first have alesson on the Saturday.For <strong>Scout</strong>s with marginal skiingability, a lesson will help themsafely enjoy the rest of theweekend.The final decision on whether a<strong>Scout</strong> requires a lesson rests solelywith the leaders. Lessons will bepre-booked and the lesson fee isnon-refundable once booked.LuggageLuggage space in cars will beat a premium with passengers,luggage & all food for theweekend. Jamboree bags aren’tsuitable; they’re to big and difficultto drag through the snow.<strong>Scout</strong>s must walk about 1kmfrom car park to lodge & need tocarry in all their own gear, sobackpacks are recommended.Spending MoneySufficient to buy dinner on theway home on Sunday (eg $10)Also there are food outlets atMt Baw Baw.‘Be Prepared’ on Fridaynight for departureTravel up on Fridaynight in comfortable clothes.Upon arrival <strong>Scout</strong>s need easyaccess to gloves/jackets/beaniesetc. Runners are okay for the 1kmwalk to the lodge.As with ALL camps, <strong>Scout</strong>s mustbe in uniform (shirt and scarf) forFriday night departure. <strong>Scout</strong>s areexpected to eat tea on Fridaynight before traveling; nothing tooheavy as the trip includes verywindy roads.Don’t forget your health form.Accommodation CostThe lodge will not refundbooking fees once paid. Soaccommodation costs (required tobook a place on the camp) cannotbe refunded.However payments can betransferred between <strong>Scout</strong>s.NOTE: Adults and Venturerswill be accommodated in aseparate lodge next door as wegenerally fill in the MBBSC tocapacity with <strong>Scout</strong>s. All meals areprovide for at the MBBSCThe accommodation is moreexpensive at the other lodge hencethe more expensive camp fee foradults/Venturers.Snow or No SnowWe are going regardless ofsnow conditions.If there is no snow we will notbe hiring equipment or purchasinglift tickets and this money will bereturned but the camp will go on.Remember some cost are nonrefundable(this includes the campfee if you cancel within 14 days).
