At 10:30a get-acqua<strong>in</strong>ted dance was heldto weleome the delegates to theconvention.On Friday, April 1, work beganearly as student delegates attendedworkshop sessions from 9:00 a.m.to 2:45 p.m. One of the highlightswas a trip <strong>in</strong> the' even<strong>in</strong>g to SeaWorld to view the mar<strong>in</strong>e life ondisplay there.Saturday, the f<strong>in</strong>al day of theconference, all delegates gathered<strong>in</strong> the El Cortez' Carribean Roomfor the general assembly to wrapup unf<strong>in</strong>ished bus<strong>in</strong>ess.Counselor EnjoysTasks With Students"It's a real opportunity to servethe students who are further<strong>in</strong>gtheir education by attend<strong>in</strong>g nightclasses," said Richard Peerson,serv<strong>in</strong>g his first year as counselorwith the San Diego Even<strong>in</strong>g College,Mesa campus.Peerson began his career ashead counselor on the secondarylevel for the San Diego CitySchools three years ago.• With two degrees, a Bachelor ofScience and a Masters Degree fromthe University of Missouri, he hastaught both history and geography.His graduate work consistedof the earth's sciences under theNational Science Foundation anda summer <strong>in</strong>stitute <strong>in</strong> counsel<strong>in</strong>gunder the National Defense EducationalAssociation."It makes one humble," Peersonsaid, "to meet so many people whoare mak<strong>in</strong>g sacrifices to get theireducation.
