If this happens, your doctor maytell you to stop using <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Injection.The Use of <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Injection During Pregnancy:Do not use <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Injection if you are pregnant,think you might be pregnant, are trying to becomepregnant, or are not using adequate contraception,unless you have discussed this with your doctor.INTERACTIONS WITH THIS MEDICATIONDo not use <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Injection if you are taking orhave recently taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitors(MAOI) in the last 2 weeks, or any migrainemedications containing ergotamine, ergot derivatives(such as dihydroergotamine, or methysergide), or othertriptans used to treat migraine within 24 hours.You should tell your doctor if you are taking or haverecently taken any other medications (prescription, nonprescriptionor natural/herbal), before you start taking<strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Injection, especially any antidepressantssuch as SSRIs and certain tricyclics.PROPER USE OF THIS MEDICATIONThe label on the container of your medicine or theleaflet inside should tell you how often to take a doseand the amount you should take in each dose. If it doesnot or you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.DO NOT take more medicine or take your medicinemore often than you are told.Usual dose:INJECTION:<strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Injection is available in pre-filled syringes whichshould only be used with the <strong>IMITREX</strong> STATdose Pen ®autoinjector. Before using the <strong>IMITREX</strong> STATdose Pen ®autoinjector, see the provided instructions for information onloading your <strong>IMITREX</strong> STATdose Pen ® autoinjector anddiscarding the empty syringes.Adults: Inject 6 mg (single injection), into the tissues just belowthe skin (on the outside of the thigh or in the upper arm).<strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Injection can be taken at any time during yourmigraine headache.If the first injection does not relieve your headache, do not takefurther doses of sumatriptan for the same attack. However, youmay take pain medication other than ergotamine-containingpreparations for further pain relief. Sumatriptan may be takenfor subsequent attacks.A second injection (6 mg) can be taken if your symptoms comeback provided 1 hour has passed since your last dose. The <strong>IMITREX</strong>STATdose Pen ® autoinjector is already in its place(see Figure 2).Figure 2• Open the carrying case.Note: Do not use a syringe cartridge if the tamper-evident sealis broken or missing.• Remove the tamper-evident seal from one container of thecartridge pack. Discard the seal and open the cartridge lid (seeFigure 4).Figure 4• Remove the cartridge pack from its package.
