The last two Mercedes Sprinter minibuses have materialised as type 413D, with Euro 3 engines.
The Fast Stylus midicoaches (921-3) are confirmed as having MAN chassis, although the designation given in
Réseaux Urbains does not seem to tie in with the usual MAN codes. From available literature, Fast Concept Car
seems to act as a design/sales organisation, with the actual manufacturing being contracted out elsewhere – their
larger Scoler has a chassis built by Ponticelli (who also supplied the chassis for the Gruau MG36 midibus) and
bodywork by Carrier.
On 21/9/01, a large explosion at the AZF chemical plant in Toulouse caused 30 deaths and much damage in the
town. Unfortunately the main SEMVAT depot at Langlade was only some 200 m from the factory, and over 100
buses were badly damaged or destroyed by the blast. RATP has joined several other operators in sending buses
to the stricken city. The first two entered service on arrival, the remaining SC10s on 3/12/01, but the R312s were
not used until 7/1/02. The SC10s fitted in reasonably well with SEMVAT’s own examples, apart from only having
two doors compared with the three-door layout of the SEMVAT buses. However, SEMVAT has no R312s, having
operated one of the 1985 prototypes which it quickly got rid of, which explains the early arrival of the RATP trainer.
By October 2001, the number of SC10 in service had fallen to 188, working from Lagny, Les Lilas, Maltournée and
Saint-Maur depots. 113 of these were at Maltournée.
Transports LACROIX, 53-55 chemin Jules-César, 95250 BEAUCHAMP
Lacroix is one of the major independents in the Île-de-France region. It operates 93 buses and 35 coaches,
including 36 provided for the urban operations at Cergy-Pontoise. These are actually part of the STIVO fleet, of
which Lacroix is a part-shareholder along with Cars Giraux and Connex-Ecquevilly. Lacroix also runs 25 services
on its own account, from its main depot at Beauchamp. The STIVO fleet is based at Génicourt, at a depot owned
by the three STIVO shareholders. An operator profile appeared in Réseaux Urbains 39, including a summary of
the bus fleet. From observations, it appears that STIVO vehicles are also allocated fleet numbers in the main
series. Where known, these are shown in brackets. S5, at least, carries Sellac Voyages names. The bus fleet is
correct to early 2001: all reported coaches are shown, except for those known to have been sold.
