To get there,she believes we need great leaders who can build teams, negotiate the political landscape,and inspire the community to work collaboratively. Currently, she is working to foster thedevelopment of those leaders as Director of the Great Plains Public Health LeadershipInstitute and as Manager of Workforce Development and Leadership Programs in theOffice of Public Health Practice, College of Public Health, University of Nebraska MedicalCenter.From 2003 – 2012, Katie worked at CityMatCH, serving as Acting Associate Director ofPrograms beginning in 2010. During her time there, she worked on a national level to buildcollaborative leaders, create fun, interactive learning environments, and offer innovationahead of the curve to local MCH professionals. She worked on projects involving a host ofpublic health issues including infant mortality, preconception health, undoing racism, health disparities, teen pregnancy,and more. Katie was part of the team that developed CityLeaders, a 6-month leadership <strong>program</strong> for emerging andmid-level MCH leaders, and over her tenure at the organization, she led staff through the successful development andimplementation of over five national conferences.Carol Douglas Emerging Leaders ScholarshipThe Emerging Leaders Scholarship fund was established in 2004 to honor the memory of CityMatCH friend and boardmember, Carole Douglas, who lost her battle with cancer that same year.The scholarship financially assists emerging urban Maternal and Child Health (MCH) leaders from CityMatCH memberhealth departments who wish to attend the Annual CityMatCH Conference.Kelly R. Warren, LGSW, MPH currently serves as the Director of Maternal and ChildHealth at the Mobile County Health Department. Kelly provides <strong>program</strong>matic oversight,fiscal management, direction of pediatric, women’s health, maternity, dental andoptometric clinics. Additionally, she is responsible for the administrative, financial andreporting activities of the local Title X, Title V and HIV/Family Planning Integration grant.Kelly is a member of the Junior League of Mobile, Mobile United, she chairs the MobileCounty Department of Human Resources Quality Assurance Committee and the AlabamaCampaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, is a member of the Domestic Violence FatalityReview Task Force and the Alabama Baby Coalition. She currently holds a license topractice social work in the state of Alabama. She was among the first group of graduatestudents to matriculate the MSW/ MPH dual degree <strong>program</strong> at the University of Alabamaat Birmingham, School of Public Health.20
