<strong>WCEC</strong> MISSION STATEMENTWHO WE AREThe mission of the <strong>Western</strong> <strong>Cooling</strong><strong>Efficiency</strong> <strong>Center</strong> is to advancecooling-technology innovationby applying technologies andprograms that reduce energy, waterconsumption and peak electricitydemand associated with cooling inthe <strong>Western</strong> United States.<strong>WCEC</strong> was established alongside the <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Davis</strong>Energy <strong>Efficiency</strong> <strong>Center</strong> (EEC) in 2007 througha grant from the California Clean Energy Fundand the financial support of the CaliforniaEnergy Commission Public Interest EnergyResearch program.<strong>WCEC</strong> partners with industry stakeholders tostimulate the development of cooling technologiesthat reduce energy, water consumptionand peak electricity demandin buildings.The <strong>Center</strong> engages in primary research, innovation,laboratory testing, field demonstrations, education,outreach, and advocacy related to climate-appropriatecooling technologies.
