Red Wing Especificaciones Técnicas RED WING TECHNICAL SPECS 14 INTERNATIONAL PROTECTION STANDARDS Australian/New Zealand Standards: Refers to the Australian and New Zealand Standards Association requirements for occupational protective footwear fitted with toe caps for the protection of the wearer classified as medium duty (AS/NZS 2210.2). Singapore Standards: Refers to the Singapore Productivity and Standards Board for basic and additional (optional) requirements for safety footwear. (SS105:1997). EN Standards: Refers to the European Standard requirements for safety footwear for professional use (EN345-1 SB Standards and EN345:92 Standards). SB Approved - steel toe cap. S1 Approved - steel toe cap with closed seat and anti-static properties. S2 Approved - steel toe cap with closed seat and anti-static properties plus resistant to water penetration and absorption. S3 Approved - steel toe cap with closed seat and anti-static properties, resistant to water penetration and absorption plus penetration resistant midsole. PROTECTION STANDARDS ANSI Z41: Refers to the American National Standards Institute’s guidelines for Protective Footwear. In 1999, ANSI issued a revision to the Z41 standard as it is required to do periodically. The revision allows manufacturers 24 months to transition to the new standards. Until the switch over is complete either “PT91” or “PT99” meets the labeling requirement. Additionally, any footwear made while the 1991 revision was in effect meets the ANSI standard. It is not obsolete. The areas primarily affected are the test methods or labeling requirements in the EH, SD and Metguard sections. I/75 C/75: This rating is for impact and compression resistance. It tests a shoes capacity to protect the toe area against falling or rolling objects. “I/75” refers to the impact in foot pounds the boot is rated. “C/75” refers to the compression pounds the boot meets. Class 75 is the highest level and is recommended for most applications. EH: Electrical Hazard protective sole and heel. The sole construction of this footwear is designed to reduce hazards due to contact of the sole with electrically energized parts. It provides a secondary electrical hazard protection on substantially insulated surfaces. Designates footwear that is designed to provide protection from open circuits of 600 volts or less under dry conditions. Properties - withstand 14,000 volts (rms) at 60Hz for one minute with no leakage in excess of 3.0 milliamperes. WARNING: EH non-conductive footwear is not to be worn near explosives or in other environments requiring Conductive footwear. Mt: Metatarsal Guard standards for protection of the upper foot and toe area. Developed to reduce or prevent injury to the wearer’s metatarsal area (instep) and toes from “drop” hazards. PR: Puncture-Resistant standards for reducing the possibility of puncture wounds to the sole of the foot by penetrating objects. Footwear contains a punctureresistant protective device. This must be an integral part of the shoe to meet ANSI Z41. Must withstand a minimum force of not less than 270 pounds. Type I SD: Static-Dissipative standards for the reduction of the accumulation of excess static electricity by conducting body charge to the ground. Must maintain a high enough specified level of electrical resistant between 10 6 and 10 8 ohms (1 megohm to 100 megohm). Conductive Footwear: Designed to discharge static electricity from the body, through the shoes into grounded floors. Minimizes static electricity which reduces the possibility of ignition of volatile chemicals or explosives. WARNING: Conductive footwear is not to be worn near open electrical circuits or highly charged objects of any kind requiring electrical hazard (non-conductive) footwear. Red Wing does not currently manufacture or market conductive footwear. CERTIFICACIONES DE SEGURIDAD Estándar Australia / Nueva Zelanda: Se refiere a las especificaciones de la Asociación de Estánderes de Australia y Nueva Zelanda para el calzado de seguridad industrial con casco de acero para la protección del usuario, para el trabajo normal, no pesado. (AS/NZS 2210.2). Estándar de Singapur: Se refiere al Consejo de Productividad y Estandares de Singapur para especificaciones básicas y suplementarias de calzado de seguridad industrial. (SS105:1997). ANSI Z41: Se refiere a las especificaciones del Instituto Americano de Estándar Nacional. En 1999 se declaró una revisión al estándar como suele hacer. La revisión permite un periódo de 24 meses para la transición del estándar PT91 al PT99 siendo que ambos el PT91 y el PT99 se consideran certificados. Cualquier calzado fabricado mientras el estándar de 1991 estaba en rigor se considera como certificado. No se considera obseleto. El calzado más afectado en cuanto a los métodos de prueba son el EH, SD (anti-estática) y Metatarsal. I/75 C75: Esta certificación se refiere a la resistencia contra el impacto y la compresión comprobando la capacidad del calzado para la protección de los dedos del pie contra objetos que caen sobre o pasan por encima del pie. I/75 se refiere al impacto en libras por pie que aguanta la punta del calzado mientras que el C/75 se refiere a las libras de compresión que aguanta la punta. EH / Dieléctrico: Protección di-eléctrico de la suela y del tacón. La construcción de la suela de dicho calzado está diseñado para reducir los peligros que se deben al contacto de la suela con cualquier objeto que conduzca energía eléctrica. Este calzado proporciona protección secundaria contra descargos eléctricos sobre superfícies aislados. La designación que se le de a un calzado que protege hasta contra 600 vóltios de circuito abierto bajo condiciones secas. Específicamente aguantando a 14,000 vóltios (rms) a 60Hz por una duración de un minuto sin filtración (fuga) de electricidad en cantidades mayores a 3.0 miliamperes. Mt / Protección Metatarsal: Protección metatarsal para la parte superior de los pies y los dedos desarollado para reducir y/o prevenir las heridas al empeine y los dedos por causa de objetos caídos. PR / Resistencia a Perforaciones: Protección para la prevención de heridas a la suela del pie por causa de objetos corto punzantes. El calzado resistente a perforaciones contiene una placa protectora lo cual deberá de ser parte integral del calzado. Esta placa debe de resistir a una fuerza no menor de 270 libras. Type I SD / Anti-estático: Reduce la acumulación del exceso de electricidad estática haciendo tierra del cuerpo. El nivel de resistencia deberá de mantenerse a un nivel alto entre 10 (6) y 10 (8) ohms o sea 1 megaohm a 100 megaohms. Conductive Footwear / Calzado Conductivo: El calzado conductivo descarga la electricidad estática del cuerpo a tierra através del mismo calzado. La disminución de la electricidad estática reduce la posibilidad de la ignición de químicos volubles y/o explosivos. AVISO: El calzado conductivo no se usa alrededor de circuitos abiertos ni de cualquier objeto altamente cargado de elctricidad ni se usa donde se requiere de calzado di-eléctrico (no conductivo). Hasta este momento Red Wing no trabaja calzado conductivo.
