Therefore,the connection between thefriction wheel and the track does notdepend on the position and weightof the suspended load. At the sametime, friction wheel travel drives arequiet in operation.Various drives are available dependingon the load to be moved and therequired travel speed. In addition,variable-speed travel drives and apneumatic drive can be supplied tosupport the movement of handlingdevices.Power supplyFlat cables are preferably used tosupply power. With more than twocranes on a runway or more thantwo travelling hoists on a suspensionmonorail and in the case of tracksystems with switches, turntables,latching devices or drop sections,power is supplied via conductor lines:with 5 internal conductors for KBKII-R track sections, with up to 10individual conductor lines for KBK IIItrack sections. All power supply linesare robust and require little maintenance.Compressed air or electric powerand compressed air are frequentlyrequired for the operation of modernhandling equipment. They can besupplied by means of a particularlysmooth-running trailing helical cablesystem.Drop sectionsDrop sections are mainly used inclosed-circuit tracks to pick up anddeposit loads at predeterminedpositions. This eliminates the needfor hoist units. When lowered in thedrop section, the trolley is mechanicallylocked in place. Mechanicallocks in the track stop other trolleyson either side of the drop section.Latching deviceLatching devices make it possibleto connect single-girder suspensioncranes and suspension monorailsso that the hoist trolley can transferbetween them. When disengaged,the crane travels past the end of themonorail without any mechanicalcontact.2420520
