The superbHarken deck gear combined with the layout means all thecontrols work effortlessly and the sailor doesn’t get tangled upwith complex systems.The spinnaker hoist and recovery system allows the sailor tohoist and drop the kite in seconds due to the low friction blocksand wide chute mouth. In addition the system is not prone tojamming or ropes twisting up which could lead to problems inextreme situations.The Musto Performance Skiff has evolved and been tested usingthe considerable experience of the development team. From theconcept in 1999 by German designer Dr. Joachim Harpprecht, alifetime single-handed trapeze dinghy sailor, through Victor Boatsproduction prototypes to Dave Ovington and Ovington Boatswork to finalise the production and manufacture. With the backing of Musto Limited and with strong classrules protecting the one design principle we are enjoyingstrong and exciting fleet racing worldwide.The Musto Performance Skiff was presented at the ISAFsingle-handed trials in March 2000 for considerationfor future Olympic Class. The result of the evaluationevent was clear and very satisfying to everyone whowas involved in the project. Evaluation sailors invited tothe event by ISAF had no problems sailing the MustoPerformance Skiff and the smiles showed their enjoymentof sailing this boat.Originally designed for the ISAF high performancesingle handed trials (which it dominated), the MustoPerformance Skiff has developed into the World’s mostpopular ISAF international class of its type. Gone are thedays when the average club sailors only considered theclass suitable for professionals. Indeed it is these clubsailors who are now the backbone of the fleet, in part dueto the friendly class ethos and eagerness of the membersto give new sailors a helping hand.With fleets approaching 100 entries at major regattasthe class has established itself on the international stage,with over 20 nations currently seen competing at Worldevents.
