There are so many things to explore in this world! When a book creates curiosity about a new topic,<br />

why not capture your reading/learning excursion by journaling? Through an interactive examination<br />

and discussion <strong>of</strong> your own reading selection and tracking, learn creative ways to document and build<br />

on your reading/learning experiences in a fun, useful and memorable way. A <strong>Delaware</strong> Library<br />

Learning Journeys journal, Between the Lines, is provided to each participant.<br />

Biographies <strong>of</strong> Workshop Leaders<br />

JoAnn Balingit, poet laureate <strong>of</strong> <strong>Delaware</strong>, grew up in Lakeland, Florida. She has lived in Morocco,<br />

Portugal, and western Kentucky. Her poems have appeared in Salt Hill, Smartish Pace, the anthology<br />

DIAGRAM.2 (Del Sol Press, 2006), 50 Best New Poems, and elsewhere. Her awards include an<br />

Individual Artist Fellowship from the <strong>Delaware</strong> <strong>Division</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Arts. She teaches poetry at The<br />

Wellness Community in Wilmington, <strong>Delaware</strong>, and lives with her family in Newark.<br />

Kathleen Buckalew is staff photographer at Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington and teaches<br />

photography at Cecil College in North East, MD. A native <strong>of</strong> <strong>Delaware</strong> and graduate <strong>of</strong> the University<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Delaware</strong> and George Washington University, she worked at the National Gallery <strong>of</strong> Art in<br />

Washington, DC, with her photographs being published regularly. In 1996, she was a recipient <strong>of</strong> a<br />

<strong>Delaware</strong> <strong>Division</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Arts fellowship in photography. In 2005, she was named the McKinstry<br />

Scholar by the <strong>Delaware</strong> Heritage Commission for her on-going work documenting the farmers <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Delaware</strong>. She was awarded a resident fellowship by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in 2005<br />

and 2006. Recently, her work, “Artists Portraits and Words” was exhibited in Santa Monica, CA, and<br />

her photograph, "Millie Perrine, goat farmer," won 2 nd place at the Biennial Art Exhibition <strong>of</strong> the<br />

National League <strong>of</strong> American Pen Women.<br />

Ed Dee After twenty years with the New York Police Department, he earned an MFA in Creative<br />

Writing from Arizona State University. His first novel, 14 Peck Slip (New York: Warner Books,<br />

1994), was a New York Times Notable Book <strong>of</strong> the Year. Bronx Angel (New York: Warner Books,
