Richard Rohr Presents‘Searching for our True Self’Live Webcast: Saturday, December 8, 11:30 amRoom 130, North CampusSpiritual Searcher presents the contemplative mystic RichardRohr once again for his final live webcast for the year. Join usfor Father Rohr's always-stimulating presentation. In this final lecture, Father Rohr will present the keyunderstandings he presents in his newest book, ImmortalDiamond: Searching for our True Self. The metaphor “immortaldiamond” is taken from Gerard Manley Hopkins, and is usedin Richard Rohr’s new book as an ideal image for the soul, the true self, and the risen Christ - all at once.In Falling Upward (and in many of his other teachings),Richard Rohr talked at length about ego (or the False Self)and how it gets in the way of spiritual maturity, especially ifits preoccupations continue into the second half of life. But ifthere’s a False Self, is there also a True Self? What is it? Howis it found? Why does it matter? And what does it have to dowith the spiritual journey? In this new book, Rohr likens the True Self to a diamond, buried deep within us, formed under the intense pressure ofour lives, that must be searched for, uncovered, separatedfrom all the debris of ego that surrounds it. In a sense, theTrue Self must, like Jesus, be resurrected, and that process isnot resuscitation but transformation. This live webcast is broadcast directly from Father Rohr’sCenter for Action and Contemplation.
