Marine <strong>Invasive</strong> <strong>Species</strong>:The LionfishThe Indo-Pacific lionfish is widely established within Atlantic andCaribbean waters and poses a significant threat to native coralreef communities. NOAA is responding by:• Drafting a Lionfish Action Plan for Understanding and Mitigating Lionfish Impacts onU.S. Marine Habitats. The purpose of this document is to identify priorities forNOAA to better understand the impacts of the lionfish invasion and developmanagement guidance for local control.• Collaborating with inter<strong>gov</strong>ernmental partners, such as the International Coral ReefInitiative and the United Nations to advise countries in the Wider Caribbean Regionof the threat of lionfish.• Leading an international effort to develop a best practices manual.
