<strong>Youth</strong><strong>Manifesto</strong><strong>2012</strong><strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Manifesto</strong> <strong>2012</strong>The <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Manifesto</strong> <strong>2012</strong> is a manifestation of views and opinions of <strong>Youth</strong>pertaining to the issues of importance in Pakistan today. <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Manifesto</strong><strong>2012</strong> is an updated and revised version of an earlier <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Manifesto</strong> 2007prepared by the first-ever <strong>Youth</strong> Parliament Pakistan batch in 2007. The needfor change in the earlier manifesto was felt considering the various changesespecially the Constitutional Reforms and other reforms that have beenintroduced in the past five years.For the purpose of drafting this <strong>Manifesto</strong>, a Special Committee was formedconsisting of members from both Blue and Green parties of <strong>Youth</strong> ParliamentPakistan <strong>2012</strong>, who, after careful deliberation, were successful in drafting adocument highlighting opinions of MYPs on matters of national andinternational concerns. Since the majority of Pakistan's populationcomprises of <strong>Youth</strong>, it is highly imperative that the opinions and views of<strong>Youth</strong> be given importance as these vibrant ideas possess the potential to actas a catalyst for change.The <strong>Youth</strong> stands firm on the opinion that in the long run only Democracyholds the key to Pakistan's success, and in no circumstances will the <strong>Youth</strong> ofPakistan tolerate any unconstitutional or undemocratic manoeuvre within thecountry.The <strong>Youth</strong> emphasizes holding of free and fair Election ensuring that truerepresentatives of People are given a fair chance to govern the people well.The <strong>Youth</strong> acknowledges that the Court of Law holds the right to interpret thelaws in accordance with the Constitution of Pakistan and that all Institutionsmust act diligently within their parameters to ensure effective Governancemechanism. The <strong>Youth</strong> believes that our foreign Policy must be made keepingour National interests supreme and must not be an outcome of any direct orindirect pressure from any external or internal source. The law and ordersituation in Pakistan is a matter of grave concern and issues pertaining toBalochistan, FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan must be resolved on priority basis. TheState must ensure equal citizenship rights for all citizens.Pakistan's dismal economic performance is certainly alarming and has directimplications on the democratic system of the country. The <strong>Youth</strong> hasacknowledged the fact that vibrant policies are the need of the hour forhandling these issues and the <strong>Manifesto</strong> highlights remedies for bettereconomic performance. Issues such as Energy crisis, public privatepartnership, privatization, direct investment, and poverty eradication havebeen discussed herein along with the need for curbing corruption andensuring good governance. Moreover, issues such as Student Unions andBrain drain have also been discussed in the <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Manifesto</strong> <strong>2012</strong>.The <strong>Youth</strong> believes that implementation of these policies can bear fruit in bothshort and long term. These policies possess the very traits of <strong>Youth</strong> and canbe termed as optimistic, vibrant and drafted to deliver if implemented in letterand spirit.13
