AAMU Will Go ‘All Out’ for 2010High School Senior DayNormal IndexOnlineA Few to Look for!As their massive event nears less than one monthaway, the staff members of Alabama A&M University’sOffice of Admissions are preparing to make majorchanges to this year’s AAMU/NASA High School SeniorDay on November 20.Each year, thousands of high school students fromthroughout Alabama, along with even more who areassembled by alumni chapters around the country, gatherat the historic 135-year-old campus to learn aboutprograms, meet prospective professors, and gain asampling of student life.While in years past, where volumes of students,alumni, teachers, counselors and other friends have pouredinto the campus’ Elmore Gymnasium, the 2010 activity willnow feature a series of outside canopies or “collegestations” assigned to the University’s major academiccomponents. Thus, the student interested primarily ineducation will not have to roam among a throng of otherprospective Bulldogs to gain access to his or her field ofacademic interest.The new program layout will include a tent forathletics, as well as food stations adjacent to eachacademic component, says King. Students, she adds,will also be able to be accepted on site, as well as to beoffered and receive scholarships with required ACT/SATdata.“I am excited about High School Senior Day,” saysVenita C. King, assistant vice president for enrollmentmanagement and director of admissions. Her excitementis anchored by the continued partnership the event willmaintain with NASA-Marshall Space Flight Center inHuntsville, Ala.
