EUROCODESBuild<strong>in</strong>g the FutureBuild<strong>in</strong>g the Future <strong>in</strong> the Euro-Mediterranean AreaPERCEIVED DIFFICULTIESEurocodes are a <strong>for</strong>midable body of standards, withunprecedented consistency of approach.• however, Eurocodes have been perceived as hav<strong>in</strong>g toomuch repetition of common parts, and too many parts.• Eurocodes are, <strong>in</strong> parts, too complex, with an implieddegree of “correctness” and “accuracy” which is perhapsnot related to the site or to the normal design office.• Eurocodes are strong <strong>in</strong> pr<strong>in</strong>ciples but short of specificequations or design methods.
