In addit ion to, b eingeasil y provo ked for minor reasons and the feeling of help lessnes s forbeing blind, andth<strong>is</strong> hadin creased after th e martyrdom o f h<strong>is</strong> brother.preve nted hi m from dreami ng and w<strong>is</strong>hing.Loa'i <strong>is</strong> greatly attac hedto h<strong>is</strong> fami ly, especially to h<strong>is</strong> eld er brotherRajab who h ad two c hildren , Raed and Rajab junior. Rajab died in thelate Is raeli war on Gaza while he w as work ingin a farm on February 16,2009 hit by a foreign body. Loa'i did not knowthat h<strong>is</strong> bro ther wasmartyred. Wh enhe r eturned from S audi Ar abia, he was waiting for h<strong>is</strong>brother to be the firs t one who would hug h im. Un fortunat ely, Loa'i wasshocked whe n he he ard h<strong>is</strong> b rother' s martyrdom which deepened h<strong>is</strong>suffer ing. He loved h<strong>is</strong> broth er very much, to the e xtent that he br oughthim a lotof presents andgif ts from Saudi A rabia. Loa'i <strong>is</strong> stillthinkingof h<strong>is</strong> brothe r andhoping to find him by h<strong>is</strong> side al l the tim e. He a lwayshopes to see h<strong>is</strong> brother. He thought, " Had h<strong>is</strong> brother bee n alive, hewould have f elt stronger, an d he mi ght hav e had forgotten h<strong>is</strong>d<strong>is</strong>ability”.Fam ily inter vention service s were provide d to Loa'i and h <strong>is</strong> family,includingem otiona l debrie fing, he lping hi m express h<strong>is</strong> f eelings andcoping with the circ umstances that he <strong>is</strong> encounte ringthr ough so medaily activit ies whic h concentrated on the child's points o f strength. Thecent er <strong>is</strong> stil l follow ing up Loa'i's case and <strong>is</strong> still in contact with h<strong>is</strong>fami ly and h <strong>is</strong> school. Through following up h<strong>is</strong> c ase, Lo a'i showednotic eable progress . He sta rted to e xpress h<strong>is</strong> fear s and concerns. Healso stopped thinkin g of failure, and began to thin k of h<strong>is</strong> dreams andfutur e.Loa' i still does not b elieve that he h ad lost h<strong>is</strong> sight. He hopes th at oneday he will be able to see again. H e <strong>is</strong> still determ ined tha t h<strong>is</strong> blindnesswill never obstruct h<strong>is</strong> way, andwill never prevent him fr om livi ng likeany normal child. H<strong>is</strong> dream s will groww ith him , andhe will alwaysrema in h<strong>is</strong> f ather's r ight hand and t he kind uncle f or h<strong>is</strong> nephews despitethe c alamity.It <strong>is</strong> t rue that Loa'i lo st h<strong>is</strong> e lder bro ther, bu t he returned fr om Sau diArabi a to find h<strong>is</strong> ne phew, Rajab junior sta nding by h<strong>is</strong> sid e whic h gavehim s upport. Loa'i's life has totally changed. That innocen t child whowas f illed with activ ity and energy and who was al ways th inking of h<strong>is</strong>future becam e helple ss who depend s on oth ers. He becam e frightenedand h esitant to take a ny step forwar d in h<strong>is</strong> life. He becam e worri edabout h<strong>is</strong> futu re expecting fa ilure all the tim e. He b ecame unable toachieve h<strong>is</strong> s imple d reams. H <strong>is</strong> drea m to bu y a bike and ride it willnever be ach ieved. H e will n ever be able to ride it except a t night withthe help of hi s grand mother who spends the whole night w atching himwhile he <strong>is</strong> ri ding.6
