The project was built to a large enoughscale to handle year-round dry weather runoff,but the county has yet to approve the projectfor use outside the AB411 time period.Sewage Spill SummaryThere were five sewage spills to receiving watersin Los Angeles County that resulted inbeach closures this past year. The largest spill(~500,000 gallons) was due to debris blockagebackup in a main sewer line in Culver City andresulted in a closure of four monitoring locationsfor two days (Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2010). Amajor sewer overflow (~250,000 gallons), dueto massive rainfall in Studio City, prompted theclosure of nine monitoring locations in Long<strong>Beach</strong> for approximately nine days in late March2011.Another significant sewage spill (~50,000 gallons)in early November 2010, due to a brokensewer line in Burbank, drained into the LosAngeles River and caused the closure of ninemonitoring locations from 3rd Place to 72ndPlace in Long <strong>Beach</strong>.
