<strong>Semester</strong> schedule: August 1- December 19First quarterSecond quarterGrading day –October 4 Grading day-December 20Great Essays Units 1-3 Great Essays Units 4-6Attendance/Tardiness:Students are expected to be in attendance one hundred percent (100%) of the time. Regular attendance is essentialfor success in school; therefore, absences shall be excused only for necessary and important reasons. Such reasonsinclude illness, bereavement, other family emergencies, and observance of major religious holidays of the family’sfaith. Students will be considered tardy when they are not in class at the time the bell rings.After the 3 rd absence: The student needs to be aware that attendance may lower their grade.After the 7 th absence: The student has been absent nearly half the number of maximum absences and may losecredit if unexcused absences continue.After the 10 th unexcused absence: The student may not receive credit due for the class.Late work:•Late work is accepted, but points are subtracted for each day it is late. This includes work that is late due to unexcusedabsences or work that is completed during class after papers have been collected.• If a student is absent, it is the student’s responsibility to talk to the teacher about missed assignments, quizzes, tests, etc. Thiscannot be done during class time, it must be done during conference time or after school.Academic honesty:All students are responsible for their own work . Copying work from another student, book or other sourceis against classroom rules.•Late work is accepted, but points are subtracted for each day it is late.
