Zenawi has also accused Egypt of backing Eritrea's ef<strong>for</strong>t todestabilize in that country."Ethiopia would not tolerate Eritre<strong>an</strong> government's destructive policy <strong>an</strong>ymore <strong>an</strong>d thecountry is <strong>for</strong>ced to ch<strong>an</strong>ge its policy from "passive defi<strong>an</strong>ce" to directly help Eritre<strong>an</strong>people topple the regime," Zenawi said while presenting <strong>an</strong> eight-month government'sper<strong>for</strong>m<strong>an</strong>ce report to parliament.According to the prime minister, Eritre<strong>an</strong> government has continued its attempt todestabilize Ethiopia by deploying terrorists <strong>an</strong>d home grown "destructive <strong>for</strong>ces", such asthe Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) <strong>an</strong>d Ogden National Liberation Front (ONLF), as wellas the Somalia extremists group, Al shabab.He further stated, "Until now, our strategy has been defending our sovereignty byspeeding up our development. Now, we found that we could not go <strong>an</strong>y longer withpassive defense. It's not possible to take passive defense as the only alternative.""There<strong>for</strong>e, we have to facilitate ways <strong>for</strong> Eritre<strong>an</strong> people to remove its dictatorialregime. We have no intention to jump into their country but we need to extend ourinfluence there.
