Service Description: The Home Library Service
delivers library materials to housebound readers, on a
regular day each fortnight. This service is available to
temporarily or permanently incapacitated persons with
suitable referral (see below). Also caters for Aged Centres,
such as Retirement Villages and Senior Citizens groups,
with bulk loans; visits Nursing Homes for individual
deliveries and bulk loans. Special collection of cassettes
and CDs available for print handicapped.

Service Description: Contains information on the
history, environment and development of the Sutherland
Shire. Sources include histories, reports, journals,
magazines. The Collection also houses an extensive
collection of historical photographs (available for viewing
on the library website), maps, looseleaf information and
newspapers which are all indexed for information on the
lives of local people, places and events. A special
collection of oral history recordings, council and
community archives can be used for research, and access is
available to minutes of Council meetings from 1906 to date.
The Library is interested in collecting any information
relating to the Sutherland Shire. Donations or loan of
material for copying can be arranged by contacting the
Local Studies Librarian on 9710 0225. The Local Studies
Room is open during Library hours.

Service Description: The Mayoral Ball is one of the
premier black-tie events on the Shire's social calendar. In
addition to the presentation of debutantes, the night also
serves as a fundraiser for a local charity. The next Mayoral
Ball will be on Saturday 5 June 2010. Guests who attend
the Ball will have a terrific night’s entertainment with good
food and company. The event includes presentation of the
debutantes, pre-dinner drinks, a three-course dinner and
live entertainment. Enquiries are now open for debutantes
for the Mayoral Ball in 2010. Having your name placed on
the waiting list does not oblige you to be a debutante - final
confirmation is not required until the end of 2009 and you
will be contacted prior to this to discuss your application.

Hours: Attendance at 9 x 2 hours of dance rehearsal on a
Sun afternoon leading up to the ball are required by both
the Debutante and Partner

Service Description: Centre-based social groups for
frail older people from Chinese, Greek and Italian speaking
background. We also offer a multicultural group for people
from other NESB (CALD) backgrounds. Monthly bus trips
also provided. Groups meet in Caringbah.

Gymea Community Aid and Information Service Inc, 39

Service Description: Monthly meeting of services for
migrants and refugees in the Shire and those involved in
service delivery to the ethnic community. Aims to promote
and increase awareness in communities, government
departments and other service providers, of the need for
culturally/linguistically relevant services for people from
non-English speaking backgrounds.
