Page 4 <strong>of</strong> 4On behalf <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> N<strong>at</strong>ional Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tourism</strong>, I wish to congr<strong>at</strong>ul<strong>at</strong>e all <strong>the</strong>entrants to this competition for striving and committing <strong>the</strong>ir enterprises toexceptional service and innov<strong>at</strong>ion. This evening salute <strong>the</strong> winners and celebr<strong>at</strong>e<strong>the</strong>ir achievement which will contribute towards our 2020 vision as a tourismdestin<strong>at</strong>ion.I am pleased to also announce th<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Welcome</strong> <strong>Awards</strong> will be expanded into abigger pl<strong>at</strong>form from next year, focusing on all stakeholders within <strong>the</strong> tourism valuechain. This will assist gre<strong>at</strong>ly with expanding our goals <strong>of</strong> realising a fully coordin<strong>at</strong>edawards system to recognise <strong>the</strong> valuable and integral role played <strong>by</strong> stakeholdersand partners in our industry.In conclusion, I am delighted to see th<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong>se awards are drawing more and moreinterest each year from such diverse sectors <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> tourism industry. It means we, asan industry, are cre<strong>at</strong>ing a service ethos <strong>of</strong> Intern<strong>at</strong>ional acclaim, with benchmarkstandards against which we can all measure ourselves. I encourage <strong>the</strong> priv<strong>at</strong>esector and businesses such as FNB to continue partnering with <strong>the</strong> N<strong>at</strong>ionalDepartment <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tourism</strong> on such initi<strong>at</strong>ives going forward – and I am sure <strong>the</strong>secollabor<strong>at</strong>ive efforts fast-track results on <strong>the</strong> ground.
