Promotion (Action Plan Example):<br />
• Join <strong>MBA</strong> Marketing Association (attend first meeting and meet president to learn<br />
what’s involved in pursuing a leadership role)<br />
• E-mail past IBM colleagues and update them on current activities and plans<br />
• Check Career Services calendar of activities (workshops, alumni events, <strong>career</strong><br />
fairs, company information sessions, etc.) and add relevant ones to daily<br />
schedule<br />
• Engage in <strong>career</strong> management workshops (Resume, Cover Letter, Networking,<br />
Interviewing and Salary Negotiation)<br />
• Post-workshop, edit resume and have reviewed by Career Services team<br />
members<br />
• Create cover letter for internship search and have reviewed prior to the recruiting<br />
season<br />
• Register for <strong>MBA</strong> Association mock interview<br />
• Register for Fall SIP interview(s). Research the company that employs my<br />
interviewer. Go to <strong>career</strong> services to address any developmental feedback<br />
regarding interview skill development.<br />
• Attend IBM Information session and meet representatives (get date and register)<br />
• Identify and meet current students who previously worked for, or interned with,<br />
IBM, Dell, HP and other target companies<br />
• Identify and contact alumni (3-5 a week) who work for IBM, Dell, HP and other<br />
target companies. Use alumni database, faculty and staff as resources to<br />
identify alums. Request a phone conversation to discuss their company and my<br />
<strong>career</strong> plans, and follow-up as necessary to maintain connection<br />
• Submit resume for on-campus interviews with consumer electronics and CPG<br />
companies (attend any respective information sessions)<br />
• Attend PSU Fall Career Fair at the Bryce Jordan Center and focus on consumer<br />
electronics and CPG companies (research companies before attending)<br />
• Use target companies/industries for academic assignments<br />
