March, 2011 St. Philip the Apostle Council 9884“Roma II”Council 9884Valentine’s Dinner Dance 2011On February 12 th we held ourcouncil’s Valentine’s DinnerDance. Once again this year’stheme was a romantic candlelightdinner in an Italian café, The Caféde Roma. This year’s dinner was agreat success with the DinnerDance completely sold out in lessthan two weeks after the firstannouncement! We want to thank all of those whomade their reservations early and ensured the event’ssuccess.The 2011 Valentine’s Dinner Dance team convertedthe CLC into an Italian Café complete with Romancolumns, candlelit tables and roses on each table.Following 30 minutes of socializing Father Johnconducted a Renewal of Wedding Vows ceremony.Immediately after the vows all were invited to beseated where they were greeted by our waiters whoserved each person individually. Dinner consisted ofAntipasto, Caprese Salad, Roasted Chicken withPancetta and Olives, Angel hair pasta with FreshTomato Sauce, Italian Green Beans with Basil andTomatoes, Italian garlic bread. After dinner our waitersserved everyone dessert which was Italian weddingcake complete with coffee service. All food wasprepared from scratch by the 2011 Valentine’s DinnerDance team. Each table seated three couples andeach table received two bottles of Italian Chianti wineto accompany their meal. During dinner our guestswere entertained by a two violinists. Dinner concludedat 8:00 p.m. at which time Knight Moves provided themusic for 2 hours of dancing.Eight Boy Scouts from troop 9168 led by Scout LeaderJeremy Stephens served as our Maitre’ De, cashier,waiters and kitchen staff. The Scouts that served thisyear were Josh Davila, Kris Wanga, WesleyTownsend, Garrett Townsend, Cameron Henderson,Colton Henderson, Joseph Beckham and JosephStephens. The Boy Scouts did a phenomenal job! Ourtwo violinists were Leslie Leico and Allison McGee;both young ladies are juniors at Flower Mound HighSchool. Their performance was fantastic and addedgreatly to the ambience.Your 2011 Valentine’s Dinner Dance team responsiblefor this event consisted of Becky Groh, Claire Walker,Anne and Steve Robillard, Patty and Gary Osborne.Fraternally,Gary Osborne PGKFamily Activities DirectorDATECHANGE!!The Founder's Day dinneris NOW scheduled for Saturday, March 19 th in theCLC after the 4:00pm Mass. Doors will open at 6:00PM and dinner will start at 6:30PM.We will celebrate the founding of the order, ouraccomplishments of the past fraternal year and thosechosen for individual recognition. We will alsocelebrate the future by awarding five scholarships toarea High School seniors selected by the scholarshipcommittee.The cost is only $5.00 per person and tickets will beavailable at the next business meeting and pancakebreakfast, Sunday, March 13. If you cannot attendeither of these, contact me by email and I will plan foryou to attend.I look forward to seeing everyone and sharing the 129 thanniversary of the Knights with you.
