New energysolutions comb<strong>in</strong>edwith renovationThe proposed general measures, produced <strong>in</strong> collaborationwith the tenants, were complemented anddeveloped dur<strong>in</strong>g the project’s enquiry and systemphase.To provide system documentation a basic alternative,<strong>in</strong> most cases cover<strong>in</strong>g ma<strong>in</strong>ly necessarymeasures, was compared with a more expensivealternative, which entailed energy sav<strong>in</strong>gs with<strong>in</strong> abudget for additional <strong>in</strong>vestments.The project f<strong>in</strong>ally came to <strong>in</strong>clude carefully plannedrenovation where the majority of the additionalcosts for energy measures are covered by the reduction<strong>in</strong> operat<strong>in</strong>g costs.The energy-related measurescan be summarised as follows:· Conversion to exhaust air ventilation <strong>in</strong> the balconyaccess <strong>build<strong>in</strong>gs</strong> and the <strong>in</strong>stallation of heat recoveryon ventilation <strong>in</strong> the slab blocks· The glaz<strong>in</strong>g-<strong>in</strong> of balconies <strong>in</strong> connection withrenovation (damaged concrete elements)· Replacement of the <strong>in</strong>ner w<strong>in</strong>dowpane by low emissionglass <strong>in</strong> the exist<strong>in</strong>g double-glazed w<strong>in</strong>dows· <strong>Solar</strong> collectors <strong>in</strong>tegrated <strong>in</strong>to the roof <strong>in</strong>connection with roof renovation· Additional roof <strong>in</strong>sulation <strong>in</strong> connectionwith roof renovation· Additional <strong>in</strong>sulation of the gables <strong>in</strong> connectionwith facade renovation· Insulation of the bases <strong>in</strong> connection withrenovation of the dra<strong>in</strong>age system· New wash<strong>in</strong>g mach<strong>in</strong>es and dry<strong>in</strong>g roomequipment connected to the hot water system· New energy-labelled white goods as partof the refurbishment of the apartments· Installation of presence-controlled light<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong> the common areas· Installation of a central control andsupervisory system· Introduction of <strong>in</strong>dividual meter<strong>in</strong>g forelectricity and heat<strong>in</strong>g as well as hot and coldwater
