Scholarship Regulations(e) names of two persons who will be forwarding, to the UniversityScholarships Office by 1 December, a written assessment of the candidateincluding achievements, potential, and suitability for the award;(f) the name of the seafarer whose membership of the specified <strong>union</strong>/sauthorises the candidate’s eligibility to apply for this <strong>scholarship</strong>;(g) signed <strong>Universities</strong> <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> Privacy Form.CriteriaIn considering the award the Selection Board shall take into account the:• Candidate’s academic record and achievement to date• Supporting comments provided by confidential refereesOnce the Selection Board have made their decision, the award will be confirmedonce <strong>Universities</strong> <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> has checked the nominee’s eligibility with theSeafarers Union Scholarship Trust.The selection committee’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered intofollowing the selection meeting.Selection CommitteeThe Selection Committee will consist of the following members:• Convenor of the <strong>Universities</strong> <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> Scholarships Committee ornominee• Two further representative of the <strong>Universities</strong> <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> ScholarshipsCommittee.AdministrationThese <strong>scholarship</strong>s will be administered by <strong>Universities</strong> <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong>, Wellington,which will be responsible for publicising the availability of the <strong>scholarship</strong>s,receiving applications, assisting the Scholarship’s Board in the selection process,advising candidates of the results, arranging for payments, and reporting annuallyon the outcomes.Power to Vary<strong>Universities</strong> <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> may make such rules and regulations as it shall fromtime to time think fit governing the <strong>scholarship</strong>s and may vary or revoke any rulesand regulations and may deviate at the discretion of <strong>Universities</strong> <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong>from strict adherence to any requirements relating to the <strong>scholarship</strong>s accordingto the exigencies of the circumstances, provided always that such changes shallbe consistent with the general purposes of the <strong>scholarship</strong>.<strong>Universities</strong> <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> – <strong>Te</strong> Pōkai Tara is the name of the <strong>New</strong> <strong>Zealand</strong> Vice-Chancellors’ Committee
