In a pulsating encounter, Tarxien’s Brazilian forwardDanilo opened the scoring with a 20 th minute header, and doubled his tally for the season just 6 minuteslater <strong>–</strong> again nodding home, this time assisted by an inch perfect cross from Luiz Romulo De Castro.However, a cool finish from Ciantar five minutes before the break gave Wanderers some hope. Thesecond half was a frantic affair, with Tarxien’s first-half hero Danilo given a chance for his hat-trick but hemanaged to put a 50 th minute penalty wide, raising Sliema’s spirits enough for El Ghaouti to rattle thewoodwork.Both teams pushed for a vital goal, and Sliema again had luck on their side when Danilo, proving thatfootball is indeed a game of two halves, was given a second booking for diving and headed to thechanging rooms. The Wanderers determined to make the advantage count, and finally in the 90 th minutethey were rewarded - Omar El Ghaouti again the man to watch when he powerfully struck past Cassar inthe Rainbows’ goal.And relief soon turned to outright joy, as debutant Paltermio Barbetti found himself in space out wide,and curled an impressive effort into the far corner deep into injury time. A 3-2 win leaves Sliemaundefeated, but expelled Tarxien to the foot of the table overnight.Champions Valletta also found themselves in a goal-fest on Sunday night, as they raced into a 3-0 lead,before conceding just before the break against Mosta. The score remained the same in the secondperiod, giving the unbeaten capital team a 3-1 victory and all three points. Michael Mifsud again got theopening goal, and also provided an assist for Man of the Match Steve Borg.Elsewhere, there were more goals to be had on Saturday night, as new boys Melita came agonisinglyclose to earning their first ever top flight win. A back and forth game, saw the promoted team 3-2 upwith eight minutes left to play, thanks in part to a brace from Spanish attacker Armaro Negrin. However,it was not to be as fellow newcomers Rabat held on, and Manwel Moral Fuster struck seconds from theend to earn the Magpies a point.Floriana were lucky to take a point from their game against Hamrun Spartans in Friday’s second game <strong>–</strong> amistake from Spartans keeper Andrea Cassar in the 79 th minute gifting Ryan Darman in the equaliser andleaving both teams looking for their first wins of the season.Marcelo Dias continued his impressive start to his career with Hibernians <strong>–</strong> notching another goal andearning himself the Man of the Match award to add to his two opening game goals.
