ABS and a new generation of ESP help you to master even criticaldriving situations safely. The robust ladder-frame chassis makes the Amarok an idealpartner for the intense rigours of day-to-day work. The Amarok comes standard withdaytime running lights because when it comes to being on the road, visibility meanssafety. Daytime running lights increase vehicle visibility and make it easier to detectapproaching vehicles from further away. These measures, amongst others, ensure thatyou will arrive at your destination feeling safe and relaxed.Anti-Slip Regulation ASR.If one of the driven wheels hasundesirable high rotation speed(slip rate), the ASR system activatesa partial braking procedure. Thisprevents wheel spin and facilitatessmooth acceleration.Anti-lock Braking System ABS.If a wheel is in danger of locking,the system immediately intervenesby reducing the brake pressure in acontrolled manner. This helps to keepthe Amarok fully steerable in situationswhere hard braking is necessary.Off-road ABS.Off-road ABS has been speciallydeveloped for use on difficult terrain.As soon as the off-road ABS functionhas been activated, at the touchof a button, the braking interval isincreased. The wheels lock up ina controlled manner so that smallwedges of material from the ground(such as gravel or sand) can buildup in front of each wheel. This cansubstantially reduce the stoppingdistance of the vehicle.Electronic Stabilisation Programme.ESP helps prevent the vehicle fromswerving. In order to respond to criticaldriving conditions, the system evaluatesdata provided by a network of sensors.It recognises what direction the driveris steering in and what direction thevehicle is moving in – and it alsomonitors the load situation. In thisway it can build up brake force to offerdirectional stability when needed. Atthe same time, ESP is synchronised withthe ABS, MSR and ASR functions andalso remains activated with shiftable4MOTION® all-wheel drive. ESP TrailerStabilisation is a subsidiary function ofthe Electronic Stabilisation Programme.Should the trailer start to fluctuateheavily, the system slows it down bymeans of controlled braking and reducedengine torque. This steadies the trailerand increases driving safety.Hill Start and Hill Descent assist.This system, which is only availablein conjunction with ESP, prevents theAmarok from rolling backwards on anuphill incline and increases brakingpressure on downhill slopes.
