FUNDRAISINGRoy takes‘total’ controlof UrbanathlonROY DAVIDSON (pictured here making a fairimpression of the Saltire flag), 28-year-old winnerof TV’s Total Wipeout challenge, has agreed to helplaunch and take part in the 2011 Urbanathlon in hishome town of Glasgow in June.The 2011 Glasgow Urbanathlon takes place onSunday 12th June, with the Edinburgh eventscheduled for Sunday 25th September. For moreinformation and details of how you can join in thefun, check out www.urbanathlon.org.ukIN THE first ever Glasgow Urbanathlon last year,three penguins, a gang of pirates, a coterie ofsuperheroes and the Flintstones were just a few ofthe hardy souls who took part.They, along with nearly 300 individuals and teammembers in more conventional garb, raised morethan £20,000 for CHSS and had loads of fun in theprocess.The tremendous turnout of participants ran,crawled, dangled, slipped, slithered and slid theirway round a challenging course of obstacles set upin Linn Park, Glasgow’s second largest park andone of its most beautiful.As one entrant said: “Had a great fun run … alovely atmosphere and all the competitors friendlyand happy throughout. I will for sure be back nexttime; beats a road run any day.”Running into some soapy bubbles – challenging itmay have been but the Glasgow Urbanathlon alsohad a high fun quotient.Abseilathon ManNOT content with taking part in theannual Forth Rail Bridge Abseil, Dunsman Jonny Logan ran a 26.2kKilomathon road race – both on thesame day.Jonny hadn’t appreciated both were onthe same date when he signed up butdecided to make it a double challenge andraise even more money for CHSS.So far, he has raised more than £800,smashing his personal fundraising target.Take the ChallengeCHSS needs to raise £6 million every yearto support and grow our vital communityservices and research projects. You couldhelp to raise funds by choosing one – ormore – of our exciting challenges that takeplace throughout the year.
