EXAM SPECIFICATIONS AND DESIGN STANDARDSSpecifications for the various discipline exams as well as Structural and Transportation design standards are available on the website of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying at www.ncees.org. NCEES review materials forexaminations are also available at the NCEES website. Applicants who do not have Internet access may contact the Board officeand request written copies of this information.3. GENERALEach candidate will be required to sign a statement that they will neither copy nor divulge any examination problem or solution,and that any violation thereof will be sufficient grounds for invalidating the candidates' examination.4. MATERIALS PERMITTED IN EXAMINATION ROOM1. Devices or materials that might compromise the security of the examination or examination process are not permitted.Beginning with the April 2004 examination administration, NCEES will begin strictly enforcing materials that are allowed inexamination rooms. Calculators with communication or text editing capabilities will be banned from all NCEES exam sites.These include, but are not limited to, the following models: HP 48GX, HP 49G, TI-83Plus and TI-83 Plus Silver Edition,TI-89, TI-92 and Voyage 200. For additional information on specific calculators contact NCEES Web site atwww.ncees.org.2. Non-communicating, battery operated, silent, non-printing calculators are permitted.3. Calculating and computing devices having a QWERTY keypad arrangement similar to a typewriter or keyboard are notpermitted. Such devices include but are not limited to palmtop, laptop, handheld, and desktop computers, calculators,databanks, data collectors, and organizers. Calculators with alphanumeric keypads are permitted.4. Communication devices, such as pagers and cellular phones are not permitted.5. EXAMINATION RESULTS:Since examinations are given nationally and scored by a central examination service, results are normally received 8-12 weeksafter the examination. The Board will notify each applicant in writing of the results - either “pass” or “fail.” Numerical gradeswill not be furnished to the applicant.6. REEXAMINATIONS:An applicant who has failed an examination will be accepted for reexamination and seated upon written request and submissionof the required fee. The deadline dates for such requests are January 2 for the Spring Examination and August 1 for the FallExamination. An applicant who has had a total of three (3) unexcused absences or failures for the examination shall only beeligible after submitting a new application with appropriate application fee, and be considered by the Board for reexamination atthe end of 12 months. After the end of the 12-month period, the applicant may take the examination no more than once everycalendar year.7. INITIAL OR NEW APPLICATIONS:Initial or new applications which require review by the Board must be completed, including all supporting documents, andreceived in the Board office not later than the following dates:JANUARY 2 <strong>FOR</strong> <strong>BOARD</strong> REVIEW PRIOR TO THE APRIL EXAMINATIONAUGUST 1 <strong>FOR</strong> <strong>BOARD</strong> REVIEW PRIOR TO THE OCTOBER EXAMINATION8. RETURNED CHECKS:Returned checks are subject to a $25.00 processing charge.(August 03)
